I bought this book from Gunasena bambalapitiya on a visit to Sri Lanka in 2024 and found it very interesting. This is the first ever Martin Wickramasinghe book I’ve read as i didn’t find myself a fam of his. But this book completely converted me. And this time I find myself adding many of his novels to the cart on an online shopping spree. Probably because now I understand the inspiration behind most of his work. My impression of him now is a very good one not only as an author but as a human. If you can read singhalese please do read this one and if you can’t please find an English translation (hoping there is one). It’s such a raw, true,candid version of life and people in Sri Lanka it’s culture, beliefs and society. I really love this one
